RICHMOND - Yesterday, Majority Leader-elect Charniele Herring announced leadership position appointments within the House Democratic Caucus. Delegate Hala Ayala (HD-51) has been appointed as Chief Deputy Whip.
"I am deeply honored to be selected to serve as part of the Democratic Caucus leadership team as Chief Deputy Whip, working with Majority Leader-elect Herring. I am looking forward to progressing our Caucus’ vision and helping to create a more inclusive and welcoming Commonwealth in this new role" stated Delegate Ayala.
In her role as Chief Deputy Whip, Delegate Ayala will work as a liaison between Caucus Leadership and Committees, prepare and support the Whips and Leader, and coordinate efforts of other Whips appointed by the Leader. Delegate Ayala will be the first Afro-Latina in Virginia’s history to serve in this role.
Delegate Hala Ayala was re-elected to her second term in the House of Delegates earlier this year. She is a cybersecurity expert and has been a resident of Prince William County for over 35 years.
