WOODBRIDGE - Today, Latino Victory Fund endorsed Delegate Hala Ayala on her re-election bid for the Virginia House of Delegates.
Latino Victory Fund Interim President Melissa Mark-Viverito issued the following statement on Delegate Hala Ayala’s endorsement:
“Delegate Ayala is a proven leader who has worked arduously for Virginia’s families. As the daughter of an immigrant and a long-time resident of Prince William County, Delegate Ayala is a candidate who reflects the rich diversity of our nation. She has fought for a minimum wage increase and access to affordable health care throughout her career, and as a delegate, delivered a significant victory by helping pass Medicaid expansion. Latino Victory Fund is proud to endorse Delegate Ayala, and will continue to ensure that our state governments reflect our nation’s diversity and values.”
The Latino Victory Fund is a progressive political action committee working to grow Latino political power by increasing Latino representation at every level of government. From school boards, to the Senate, to the White House, Latino Victory identifies, recruits, and develops candidates for public office while building a permanent base of Latino donors to support them.
During the historic 2018 cycle, Latino Victory targeted more seats and endorsed more candidates than in any previous cycle -- 58 candidates with 43 victories (68% of the winning candidates were Latinas).
The election for the 51st House of Delegates District will be held on November 5. Delegate Ayala and Senator Warner will be participating in joint activities throughout the campaign to work towards her re-election effort and help Democrats win the majority in 2019.
Delegate Hala Ayala has been a member of the Prince William County community for over 35 years and was elected to represent the 51st District in Virginia House of Delegates in 2017. She is a cybersecurity expert and served as the chief co-patron of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) during the 2019 legislative session.
