WOODBRIDGE - Today United States Senator Mark Warner announced his endorsement of Delegate Hala Ayala (D-51) in her re-election race for the Virginia House of Delegates in District 51.
“Hala’s service to our nation comes at a pivotal time in our country’s history. A cyber-security specialist with top secret clearance, Hala has spent nearly 20 years protecting our nation’s information systems, networks and data from criminal intrusion and security breaches. I am proud to endorse someone with such a record of service to our country and Commonwealth,” Stated Senator Warner.
Senator Warner was elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2008 and reelected to a second term in November 2014. He serves on the Senate Finance, Banking, Budget, and Rules Committees as well as the Select Committee on Intelligence, where he is the Vice Chairman.
“Hala knows that when you are protecting the security of your country no one asks if you are a Democrat or a Republican, and she has brought those bi-partisan values with her to the State Legislature. In doing so, Hala has started conversations that have never been had in the House of Delegates, prioritizing the safety of children and consumers from unseen threats in the cyberspace we utilize daily,” continued Senator Warner, “she brings a new, needed perspective to the House.”
The election for the 51st House of Delegates District will be held on November 5. Delegate Ayala and Senator Warner will be participating in joint activities throughout the campaign to work towards her re-election effort and help Democrats win the majority in 2019.
Delegate Hala Ayala has been a member of the Prince William County community for over 35 years and was elected to represent the 51st District in Virginia House of Delegates in 2017. She is a cybersecurity expert and served as the chief co-patron of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) during the 2019 legislative session.
